Woman hurt in crowdsurfing incident seeks injury compensation

A south Devon woman who was badly hurt by a crowd-surfing rock star at a concert four years ago is finding it difficult to get injury compensation.

Jennifer Lovell, who was 16 at the time, was watching Hawthorne Heights when guitarist Casey Calvert leapt from the stage and collided with her, fracturing five of her teeth and causing head injuries.

"I wasn’t actually looking at the stage – when it happened I just heard somebody say: ‘He’s going to jump’," commented Miss Lovell.

"When I turned round, he just landed on my head."

Because the musician was uninsured and died two years ago, Miss Lovell is having difficulty with her injury compensation claim towards paying for the cost of her GBP 12,000 treatment and has so far secured just GBP 1,000.

Casey Calvert died on tour in November 2007 due to a fatal mixture of drugs he was taking to treat depression, it is believed.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19431785-ADNFCR
