A pregnant woman is to receive GBP 2,000 in injury compensation after she was attacked by a shop guard dog.
Karen Guest was nine months pregnant when a Rottweiler which had escaped from a Costcutter store in Cradley Heath savaged her Yorkshire terrier as she took it for a walk, the Express and Star reports.
The dog then turned on Ms Guest, biting her arm and causing wounds that required three operations at Dudley’s Russells Hall Hospital, leaving her unable to hug or carry her son in the weeks after he was born.
Her Yorkshire terrier suffered a broken leg, cuts and scratches as a result of the attack, needing veterinary treatment totalling GBP 1,047.
Ramzan Hussain, the owner of the Rottweiler, was given a 20-week suspended prison sentence and was ordered to pay GBP 2,000 in injury compensation in addition to the veterinary bills.
It follows news that a teenager in north London has been ordered to pay injury compensation after his terrier savaged a blind woman’s guide dog.
