Solicitor seeks GBP50k from Basildon Hospital.

A solicitor is seeking injury compensation of as much as GBP 50,000 from a hospital in Basildon.

Brian Hughes issued the writ at London’s High Court claiming he was the victim of medical negligence back in 2007, the Echo reports.

Mr Hughes, who is president of the Mid Essex Law Society and a member of the Council of the Law Society, said that his injury lawyers have valued his claim as being worth as much as GBP 50,000.

Nicola Laver, spokeswoman for Basildon Hospital, told the newspaper that, as this was a legal matter, she was unable to comment.

Earlier this month, British journalist Martin Jacques was awarded a substantial sum in compensation from the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong.

He had been battling the hospital negligence claim for ten years following the death of his wife Harinder Veriah.

Mr Jacques claimed that the hospital staff racially discriminated against Ms Veriah for being Malaysian-Indian.
