RoSPA event to prevent accidents at work

An upcoming event held by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) will help to highlight the importance of preventing accidents at work in the waste industry.

Taking place on June 22nd at Maple House, ETC Venues, Birmingham, the event will help to address the problem of people being injured at work and promote companies taking great care to avoid accidents.

Fatalities in the waste industry are ten times the national average, with accident rates at four times the national average, and RoSPA is hoping to lower these figures by bringing together nationally-recognised speakers from Waste Industry Safety and Health Forum and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The organisation claims the event will "give practical advice and guidance on key issues including work place transport, worker engagement, managing occupational road risk, corporate manslaughter and managing contractors".

Next week, the HSE’s Safety and Health Expo 2010 takes place at the LG Arena in Birmingham, attempting to reduce accidents at work in the UK.
