A mother from Didsbury has been awarded nearly GBP 5 million in injury compensation, which will help her to care for a son left disabled in a medical blunder.
Laura Ford was told that she had no chance of winning an injury compensation claim for her son, who was deprived of oxygen at birth, the Manchester Evening News reports.
However, after more than 25 years of fighting for justice, she has finally been awarded GBP 4.9 million in a decision at the High Court.
"From as soon as he was born I knew it was the hospital’s fault but I never received a diagnosis from them or any explanation for his condition," she told the paper.
"This means we can live in a bigger house with the aids and equipment he needs."
It follows news that a Bridgend girl of 15 who suffered brain damage at birth has been awarded GBP 6.5 million in injury compensation.
