Injury compensation awarded after horrific dog attack

Injury compensation has been paid to the parents of a child who was savaged by a dog in the garden of a Cumbria hotel.

Zion Kasaija, who was two years old at the time of the incident, was attacked by a 160lb bull mastiff in the beer garden of the Stanley Arms Hotel in Calderbridge, the Cumberland News reports.

His father William was also bitten on the hand as he tried to save the toddler.

He said that his sons have been left with a deep-seated fear of dogs, which affects their ability to play outside.

"We’re hoping to get therapy to help them deal with their phobias. What happened has caused all sorts of problems – anxiety, stress, depression," he told the paper.

So far the family have received a total of GBP 25,000 in injury compensation for the father and mother, while any damages payments for Zion’s injuries will be decided at a later date.

The news follows reports that a suspected burglar is considering seeking injury compensation after a police dog bit off his ear.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19342336-ADNFCR
