Injured biker to receive injury compensation and footie ticket for life

A biker hit by an uninsured driver in Manchester city centre is to receive a GBP 1.25 million injury compensation payout, which also includes a lifelong season ticket for Bolton Wanderers.

Stuart Bridge, 53, suffered serious brain injury and a fracture spine and pelvis after he was knocked off his motorcycle in Deansgate in 2006, leading to slurred speech, poor concentration and problems with his balance.

The driver of the author car later pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and without due care and attention, meaning that the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) had to accept liability on her behalf.

As well as a season ticket for Mr Bridge’s favourite team, the MIB has been told to pay a lump sum of GBP 1.25 million in injury compensation, as well as yearly payouts of GBP 57,500.

It follows news that a car passenger in Cornwall who was paralysed in a crash has been awarded more than GBP 2 million in injury compensation.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19669702-ADNFCR
