Injured biker can seek compensation

A motorcyclist left paralysed after a road accident has won the right to seek injury compensation from the driver responsible.

James McKune was riding with his fiancee on the A530 in Northwich when a car driven by James Cohen pulled out of a side road, forcing him to slam on his brakes, the Northwich Guardian reports.

The stop was so sudden that Mr McKune and his passenger were thrown from the bike and slammed into the car, resulting in injuries that left him paraplegic.

Following an appeal by the driver which was overturned, judges have ruled that Mr McKune is eligible to seek injury compensation on the basis of 75 per cent liability on the driver’s part.

The case follows reports in the Swindon Advertiser that a cyclist may be in line for a compensation settlement worth up to GBP 4 million after he was left paralysed in a car accident four years ago.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19262925-ADNFCR
