A keen golfer is seeking GBP 50,000 in injury compensation from a prestigious golf club after he fell on a shower floor.
Anthony Avery, 72, needed a GBP 5,000 operation and ongoing physiotherapy which has prevented him from golfing since the incident, the Daily Mail reports.
He believes that Rye Golf Club in East Sussex was negligent in failing to ensure that sufficient measures were taken to prevent members from slipping on the floor.
"The club say that I should have been a bit more careful when I stepped in the shower," he told the paper.
"They will say I’m a doddery old fool but that’s not the case. I don’t think it was my fault. I’ve not dared to think about how much compensation I could get."
Rye Golf Club was established in 1894 and has counted a number of historical faces among its members, including David Lloyd George, A J Balfour and Winston Churchill.
