GBP 3,000 compensation for broken ankle

A Bradford woman has received a GBP 3,000 injury compensation payout after breaking her ankle at work.

Kathryn Knight, who works as a radiographer at Bradford Royal Infirmary, was moving a screen along a corridor when its wheels collided with her ankle, the Telegraph & Argus reports.

She spent weeks with her foot in plaster and was unable to pursue her hobbies of horse riding and running.

It emerged that she had not received training in how to move the screens, which should be pushed rather than pulled.

Ms Knight told the paper: "I feel I have had to learn the hard way when really I should have been provided with adequate training to avoid going through what has been a particularly painful injury."

The case follows reports that an Ipswich woman who lost her leg as a result of a routine knee operation has received more than GBP 1 million in injury compensation.
