Erb’s Palsy sufferer awarded GBP 75k injury compensation

A nine-year-old boy from Perton has been awarded GBP 75,000 in injury compensation after a difficult birth left him with lifelong injuries.

Liam Homfray suffers from Erb’s Palsy, which affects the nerves in his shoulder and has required him to undergo surgery, although he still suffers pain and struggles to carry out everyday activities, the Express and Star reports.

It was later revealed that during his birth at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, his mother was not placed in the correct delivery position by midwives, causing his shoulders to become stuck.

"The settlement will be used for whatever he needs as we still don’t really know to what extent his life will be different," his mother Donna told the paper.

It comes soon after reports that a Swansea family have been awarded a seven-figure injury compensation sum after a medical error during their daughter’s birth left her with tetraplegic cerebral palsy.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19519158-ADNFCR
