An 80-year-old who was hit by a car outside Charing Cross Hospital has launched a bid for injury compensation that could total more than GBP 300,000.
Joyce Howard was crossing the road when she was struck by a reversing car driven by Monica Mirza, the Hounslow and Brentford Times reports.
She hit her head on the pavement and sustained a fractured skull which required surgery and six weeks in hospital.
Ms Howard now suffers from memory loss, fatigue and headaches, is at risk of developing epilepsy and claims that she will need care and supervision for the rest of her life.
While her writ does not specify the level of injury compensation she is seeking, lawyers acting on Mrs Howard’s behalf estimate that the claim could be worth over GBP 300,000.
It follows news that a grandfather knocked off his motorbike in Manchester city centre has been granted a GBP 1.25 million injury compensation payout.
