Compensation payout for man with brain injury since birth

A man suffering from numerous illnesses related to brain damage that he sustained during his birth has been awarded GBP 2.5 million in injury compensation.

Nathan Preece, 19, from Bosley, has suffered from autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, seizures and developmental delay following his delivery at the John Radcliffe Hospital, the Oxford Mail reports.

He recently reached an out-of-court injury compensation settlement with his GP, Dr David Wise, although the doctor has not admitted to negligence.

Lawyers acting on Mr Preece’s behalf accused Dr Wise of failing to send his mother to hospital when she came to him with signs of pre-term labour, hours before he was born with a collapsed lung that caused a lack of oxygen to his brain.

It follows news that a 15-year-old girl from Bridgend is to receive GBP 2 million in injury compensation over a similar case that left her with brain damage, meaning she will need 24-hour care for the rest of her life.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19581947-ADNFCR
