Brain-damaged student can claim injury compensation

A student who sustained serious brain injuries after falling 20 ft over a wall in Plymouth has been told he can claim injury compensation from the local authority.

However, Jonathan Harvey has been deemed 75 per cent responsible for his accident, meaning the final amount of compensation he will receive will be substantially reduced, the Plymouth Herald reports.

He was lucky to escape with his life after running from a taxi after a night out and leaping over a wall, plunging 20 ft to a Tesco car park below.

The judge found Plymouth City Council partly responsible for the incident, saying that it had failed to maintain a fence that guarded the drop, although he added that had Mr Harvey been sober the accident would have been less likely to occur.

It follows news that the family of a child who was attacked by another toddler in a car have been told they can claim injury compensation.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19464754-ADNFCR
