Brain-damaged factory worker to receive GBP 1 million

The victim of a car crash near Burton is in line to receive a GBP 1 million injury compensation payout.

Phil Parker, who was previously employed as a highly-skilled factory worker, suffered brain damage in the crash on the A38, which also claimed the life of the ex-policeman driving the car.

His case has been adjourned when High Court judge Mr Justice Jack raised concerns over whether Mr Parker’s loss of earnings claim had been properly addressed.

"I don’t think I should approve this settlement, I have an anxiety about how the future loss of earnings has been calculated," said the judge.

"It should reflect his well-established ability to earn in excess of GBP 30,000 rather than being based on the lower pay he received for one month."

The news follows reports in the Ipswich Evening Star that the family of a hit-and-run victim in Hadleigh is seeking injury compensation.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19664725-ADNFCR
