Boy hurt in nursery fall wins injury compensation

A young boy who sustained brain damage in a fall at his nursery has been awarded a multi-million pound injury compensation package.

James Pitcher, now six, has been in need of 24-hour care since he fell from a changing table at the Headstart Nursery in Croydon in 2004.

As well as being quadriplegic, the accident left him unable to swallow properly, meaning he needs to be fed through a gastronomy tube and is not expected to live beyond the age of 15.

Last year, he was awarded GBP 1,320,000 in injury compensation and a final sum, which will be kept confidential but is believed to run into the millions of pounds, was added on Monday (December 7th).

It follows reports that Birmingham woman Helen Walker, who is now 37, has received an injury compensation payout of around GBP 3 million after a prolonged delivery at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital resulted in lifelong brain injuries.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19501841-ADNFCR
