There is concern that a consultant responsible for botched surgery resulting in multiple accident compensation claims is still working for the NHS.
Consultant surgeon Puvaneswary Markandoo carried out operations that were followed by successful medical negligence and accident compensation claims totalling GBP700,000, reports the Daily Mail.
Speaking to the newspaper, former patient Mary Jolly expressed her concern that such an individual still has a role within the national health service.
She said: "I wish I had never set eyes on her and I find it unbelievable that she can still work in the health service after what she has done.
"I realised at some point that there was something odd about her."
Ms Markandoo’s work was subject to a total of 29 claims, with the majority resulting in payouts for medical negligence.
This has emerged less than a month after six patients with breast cancer were misdiagnosed at a hospital in Lancashire.
The women were wrongly given the all-clear after their mammograms were re-evaluated and are each pursuing legal claims against the NHS centre on grounds of medical negligence.
