Bank worker gets £9k compensation

An injury compensation payout of nearly GBP9,000 has been awarded to a bank employee for an accident at work.

Jackie Edwards, who worked at Lloyds TSB in Benfleet, fractured her ankle after falling down a hazardous step at the branch, the Echo reports.

No warning signs had been erected around the step and Lloyds TSB admitted liability for the accident, which also caused Mrs Edwards to sprain her knee.

Mrs Edwards, who spends much of her time caring for her elderly mother and disabled son, was unable to return to work for six months following the injury.

"I felt aggrieved I had to spend six months off work when this accident could have been avoided easily," she told the paper.

The Health and Safety Executive recently warned employers of the need to make sure hazard warning signs are placed correctly, after a worker at Drax Power in Selby suffered severe injuries when he fell down a hole.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19136326-ADNFCR
