Hayward Baker Solicitors are proud to announce they have been shortlisted for the “Team of the Year” Award in The News Business Excellence Awards 2011.
The winners will be announced at a gala award presentation evening to be held at Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday 11th March.
In 2010 the Firm celebrated its 10th Anniversary. From humble beginnings in a small business enterprise office in Waterlooville, the firm has grown from being just the two original partners to now having a total staff of 44. It is now a well-respected regional practice based in a Grade II listed building on the High Street, Fareham.
Trevor Baker, partner, says “this growth has only been possible because the Firm is structured on solid team principles, with shared and clearly understood goals. Further, through an advanced IT infrastructure, our Firm is able to deliver a first class service to clients. In the case of accident victims, this can be at a very stressful time in their lives. Our aim is to reduce the pain of the claims process to a minimum for injury victims”.
Further, and importantly in today’s world, the Firm is committed to a “Green” initiative and aim to be paperless wherever possible thereby reducing the impact of what we do upon our environment.
The Firm has an excellent staff retention rate implying it is a happy place to work. We try to promote long term relationships both internally with staff and externally with suppliers to maximise support for the business.
Trevor says “all staff have an understanding of the Firm’s defined goals. This is communicated by circulation of our annual business plan that details financial and operational objectives for the year ahead. This understanding is reinforced by regular team meetings, both Firm wide and within smaller groups. This promotes both trust and openness. Full internal training and support to achieve the defined goals is provided. Further, senior staff are encouraged to attend external training courses to develop their managerial and team building skills.”
The Firm also promote a team culture outside the office by supporting local charity events when possible. Last year, 15 members of staff participated in the nationwide “Give and Gain” day by assisting Hampshire Autistic Society with the renovation of one of their residential premises in Alverstoke, Gosport. This involved staff in working in teams to clear an overgrown garden and replant it with plants and vegetables suitable for the residents to tend, and carrying out general repairs and maintenance within the grounds. This was a wonderful team building experience and very rewarding. It also benefited a great cause that we have continued to support with fund raising activities throughout the year.
