Shopper receives four figure sum for injury sustained in a supermarket
Accident Circumstances: Our client was a shopping at his local supermarket. As he walked along one of the aisles in the supermarket he slipped and fell on some fabric conditioner which had been spilled on the floor. As a result of the accident our client sustained a personal injury. Our client reported the incident to the duty store manger who recorded the incident in the accident book.
Our Client’s Injuries:
- Moderate sprain to his lumber spine
- Mild sprain to his thoracic spine
- Mild sprain to his left knee
What did Hayward Baker Solicitors do to help: One of our personal injury specialists Alison Spriggs who is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives took on the case on a no-win-no-fee basis and sent a letter of claim to the defendant, who admitted liability.
We arranged for our client to be seen by a medical expert who after examining our client formulated a medical report upon his injuries. The medical consultant a General Practitioner referred our client to a physiotherapist for treatment.
This report was used to show the defendant insurers the extent of our client’s injuries. It was these reports that were also used to value our client’s claim for personal injury compensation.
We also claimed for our client’s out of pocket expenses which we call special damages as below:
- Medical treatment
- Postage and telephone call costs
Resolution: The case settled for £2,800.00
