Woman seeking £ 1m compensation after go-karting accident
30/12/2011A woman who was injured in an accident at a go-karting track is seeking personal compensation of up to GBP 1 million after launching an injury claim.
Julie Markie was working as a school teacher and was involved in a school trip to the karting venue operated by Driveflight, trading under the name Kartstart.
According to the Courier, Mrs Markie had gone to the trackside to check on one of her pupils when another pupil exited the race track at speed.
The kart entered the pit area hitting Mrs Markie, causing serious injuries to her foot, a minor brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder.
It is claimed that her injuries have forced her to leave her job and Mrs Markie is seeking compensation from the karting company.
The firm meanwhile are said to be arguing that the accident was the fault of the pupil driving the kart, who had allegedly already been warned about his dangerous driving.
