Woman makes GBP 200k injury claim against police

23/07/2010

A woman who was seriously injured in an accident on the roads has made a compensation claim of GBP 200,000 against Northern Constabulary.

Rachel Rosie suffered head injuries, a broken collar bone and cuts after she was involved in a car accident near Lerwick in Shetland on August 15th 2006, the Shetland Times reports.

Her Peugeot car collided with a lorry that was attempting to make a turn in front of her.

The lorry was prevented from exiting the main road because a police patrol car was blocking its turning.

Mrs Rosie tried to make an emergency stop but was unable to do so because of other vehicles on the road.

The case is set to be heard in October.

Earlier this month, thisiscornwall.co.uk reported that a man from Cornwall is to receive injury compensation each year for the rest of his life after being involved in a car accident.

Anthony Bennett, 26, was left paraplegic as a result of the crash, which took place in October 2003.
