Woman gets up to GBP 500k in car accident compensation

20/05/2010

A woman left disabled after an incident on the roads has been awarded as much as GBP 500,000 in car accident compensation from her husband's insurers.

Carol Coleman of Sunnyhill Road, Salisbury, was severely injured when the Renault Laguna her husband was driving and she was a passenger in spun out of control on August 22nd 2005, the Salisbury Journal reports.

She sustained a broken back and has been left suffering from severe weakness affecting all four of her limbs.

Mr Coleman's insurers accepted liability but disputed the value of Mrs Colemen's compensation claim so the amount was due to be decided by a High Court judge, the newspaper reports.

However, before this could happen, a settlement was reached between Mrs Coleman and the insurers.

Earlier this week, the Plymouth Herald reported that a skateboarder and widow were locked in a compensation battle.

Susan Honey, of Beverston Way, Widewell, Plymouth, claims that her husband would not have died if Lewis Hart, of Tiverton Close, Widewell, had not have stepped out onto the road in front of him.

Mr Hart, however, claims that Mr Honey was driving his motorbike too fast.
