Woman awarded compensation for injury at Corsley Show

08/09/2010

A woman who was hurt at last year's Corsley Show in Warminster has been awarded GBP 4,700 in injury compensation.

Sharlene McKenna was holding her 14-month-old daughter when a scaffolding tower collapsed, crushing the child's pushchair and hitting Ms McKenna on the back, the Wiltshire Times reports.

The 31-year-old's dog Toby was also injured when part of the scaffolding hit him on the head.

An insurance company acting for Action Entertainments has settled the damages claim and sent Ms McKenna a cheque.

"It doesn't seem very much for the trauma we all went through at the time and afterwards," Ms McKenna's partner Ben Payne, 38, told the newspaper.

Back in July, B & J Scaffolding was fined GBP 4,000 after one of its constructions collapsed on Jedburgh Street in Middlesbrough.

Around 85 metres of scaffolding was blown over by the wind as it had not been adequately secured.
