Wheelchair-bound policeman makes compensation claim

15/06/2010

A police constable who was left wheelchair-bound after an accident on the roads has made a multimillion pound injury compensation claim.

Alexander Kotula, 27, of Norris Close in St Albans, claims that a lack of safety at a road works site caused the accident, which has not only ruined his career but his life, the St Albans and Harpenden Review reports.

He was cycling home along Park Street on September 28th 2006, when he was hit by a lorry passing the road works.

Mr Kotula claims that the dangerous situation arose as the pedestrian "corridor" running alongside the works was too narrow.

With the aid of an injury lawyer, Mr Kotula launched his compensation claim last Thursday (June 10th) at the High Court.

Last month, the Salisbury Journal reported that a woman left disabled after an incident on the roads has been awarded as much as GBP 500,000 in car accident compensation from insurers.
