Trainee bricklayer wins over GBP 1m in car accident compensation

09/07/2010

A trainee bricklayer has won over GBP 1 million in car accident compensation following a crash that occurred seven years ago.

Marcus Jeffrey, now 23, from Liskeard in Cornwall, was injured when the car he was travelling in lost control and rolled over several times, thisiscornwall.co.uk reports.

The teenager driving the car, Jonathan Stephens, was killed in the accident and Mr Jeffrey suffered a collapsed lung, fractured spine and brain damage.

Mr Jeffrey sued Mr Stephens' motor insurers over the accident and agreed to a final settlement yesterday (July 8th).

Approving the settlement, Mrs Justice Davies said that no amount of money would ever compensate him for his injuries.

"What I hope that [it] will do is give you a decent quality of life and, within that life, a proper level of support," the newspaper reports her as saying.

Earlier this week, the Press and Journal reported that the relatives of a man who was killed in a bus crash had made a compensation claim for over GBP 2 million.
