Supercar pile up most expensive car crash ever?
05/12/2011Car accident compensation claims could be on the table after an extremely expensive crash involving several supercars.
The traffic accident, which occurred in Japan on Sunday (December 4th), involved eight Ferraris and a Lamborghini among other vehicles.
Wreckage from the high-end cars spread over 400 metres of the east-bound side of the Chugoku Expressway in southern Honshu in what is thought to be Japan's most expensive car crash ever.
A selection of around 20 supercars were travelling in a convoy on a wet expanse of highway when the leading Ferrari slid into a guardrail.
The car then smashed into the central reservation and rebounded into the path of oncoming traffic - causing a chain reaction.
Fortunately, none of the drivers were seriously hurt, although five men and five women were left with slight injuries.
Highway patrol lieutenant Eiichiro Kamitani told AFP: "I've never seen such a thing.
"Ferraris rarely travel in such large numbers."
