Student nurse receives compensation for motorbike accident

31/08/2010

A former nursing student has received injury compensation totalling GBP 800,000 after she was involved in a motorcycling accident.

Lisa Bennett lost her right leg as a result of the crash on December 7th 2004 and her teenage son had to put his life on hold to care for her, the Daily Echo reports.

The 43-year-old also suffered injuries to her left knee, a fractured spine, broken ribs and a broken shoulder.

"My life has changed forever. I lost my leg, my dream career, my whole way of life," Ms Bennett told the newspaper.

Speaking after the settlement, she said that she was "relieved" that the case was over, but said she will never be able to get her life back and she will have to carry on trying to cope with the "chronic pain" she experiences daily.

Earlier in the month, the Salisbury Journal reported that a compensation claim for GBP 500,000 had been made by a woman who broke both of her legs in a car crash.
