08/07/2010

The relatives of a man who was killed in a bus crash have made a compensation claim and hope to receive over GBP 2 million.

Kevin Mykoliw, 37, from Inverness, died on October 17th when the bus he was travelling in crashed into a parked lorry, the Press and Journal reports.

Arthur Botterill, 64, of 12 Young Court in Rosemarkie, was driving the bus at the time of the accident.

He admitted causing Mr Mykoliw's death by careless driving and was ordered to complete 210 hours of community service and was banned from driving for three years.

Mr Mykoliw's family, including his wife, their children, his brothers, sister and two half-sisters, is suing Mr Botterill and his employer, haulage firm Tulloch Transport.

Back in May, the Evening Telegraph reported that a man who was injured on a bus in Wellingborough had been awarded GBP 5,500 in injury compensation.

Peter Stone, 51, lost consciousness, sustained whiplash and suffered a significant flesh wound to his hip when the bus he was travelling on braked suddenly.
