Police officers suffer whiplash injury in attack

05/08/2011

Men have been arrested following an attack which saw six police officers sustain whiplash injuries when their van was rammed.

According to the BBC, a group of men hijacked a bus and went into the police vehicle during riots taking place in Ballycare, Northern Ireland, last month and four have now been detained following a search.

Some items were seized from the County Antrim men, who are believed to have been involved in the trouble, which also saw cars being hijacked, set alight and used to attack police.

The Police said that they have arrested a 26-year-old for attempted murder, a 21-year-old for being equipped to cause criminal damage and a 22-year-old and 55-year-old for possession of an offensive weapon.

A young mother was recently left with whiplash injuries after a car accident in Scarborough, which saw a pensioner's Fiat Panda hit a stationary Ford Fiesta, the Scarborough Evening News reported.
