Opera singer seeks compensation claim of GBP 250k

06/08/2010

An opera singer has made a compensation claim of GBP 250,000 after he was injured while onstage.

David Montague-Rebndell was performing at the Copenhagen Opera House when part of the set fell on him, the Bournemouth Echo reports.

He fell a considerable distance in the accident, shattering one of his hips and damaging both shoulders.

"I was knocked down at least 15 feet and tried to crawl to safety to avoid being crushed," Mr Montague-Rebndell told the newspaper.

The 61-year-old, who is from Brockenhurst in the New Forest, said that the incident has caused him to lose a considerable amount of money in earnings.

He has contacted an injury solicitor and is suing the Danish Ministry of Culture, which owns the theatre.

It was recently reported that Klarius UK Ltd had been fined GBP 8,000 after one of its employees fell more than two metres in an accident at work, fracturing one vertebra and crushing another.
