Mother and daughter 'miraculously' survive car accident
20/09/2011An incident which resulted in a lorry crushing a car with a mother and daughter inside has been described as "miraculous" after the pair survived.
It occurred on York's Hopgrove roundabout yesterday (September 19th) when a lorry carrying a load of poultry overturned and crushed the Peugeot 107 the pair were travelling in, the York Press reported.
However, as they laid flat before impact, the pair were able to survive, though were later taken to hospital to assess cuts, bruises and a suspected whiplash injury.
Traffic Sergeant Andy Quigley told the newspaper it was one of the most amazing escapes from a crash he had ever seen.
"When we got the call that a lorry had overturned on a car, we fully anticipated we would be dealing with a fatal accident," he added.
Last month, a young mother was left with whiplash injuries after a car accident in Scarborough.
A pensioner's Fiat Panda hit a stationary Ford Fiesta, containing the 23-year-old mum and her three-year-old child, who was not hurt in the collision.
