Man wins compensation claim after road accident

19/07/2010

A man from Cornwall will receive injury compensation each year for the rest of his life after being involved in a car accident.

Anthony Bennett was in a car being driven by his friend Jonathan Stephens when it crashed into a boulder on the side of a road on October 25th 2003, thisiscornwall.co.uk reports.

The 26-year-old was left paraplegic as a result of the crash.

He was awarded GBP 2.25 million in compensation earlier this year, but last week the High Court ruled that Mr Bennett will now receive further payments each year.

These will add up to a seven-figure sum over the course of his life, Mr Bennett's injury solicitor told the news website.

Last month, the St Albans and Harpenden Review reported that a police constable who was left wheelchair-bound after an accident on the roads had made a multimillion pound injury compensation claim.

Alexander Kotula, 27, of Norris Close in St Albans, claimed that a lack of safety precautions at a road works site was the cause of the accident.
