Man sustains whiplash injury in car crash
27/05/2011A man sustained a whiplash injury earlier this week in a collision on a road running between Coventry and Burton on Trent.
Kevin Lancashire was driving his Alfa Romeo on the section of the road that passes through Stanton when the incident took place, the Burton Mail reports.
At around 17:00 BST on Wednesday (May 25th), he saw a Ford Fiesta veer out of control.
"When I first saw the car I thought it was one of these tearaway youngsters overtaking everyone but as it got closer I saw the driver's head slumped to one side," he told the newspaper.
The 46-year-old Fiesta driver was unconscious and his vehicle collided with Mr Lancashire's Alfa Romeo.
Mr Lancashire was treated for a whiplash injury at the scene of the accident, while the Fiesta driver was taken to hospital.
Earlier this week, Thatcham revealed that it has used a variety of technologies, such as radar, cameras and lasers, to create a collection of autonomous emergency braking systems that could prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
