Injury lawyers seek compensation for paralysed teen

01/09/2010

Injury lawyers are fighting to gain compensation for a teenager who was injured in an accident on the roads.

Ben Woodham, 19, could be awarded as much as GBP 3 million, as unlimited damages have been sought from coach and minibus firm Turners of Great Barton, the Bury Free Press reports.

In October 2007, Mr Woodham was riding a motor scooter along the A143 at Great Barton when one of Turners' Mercedes mini-coaches pulled out of School Road.

The driver, Sarah Turner, manoeuvred across the path of a stationary tractor and trailer and collided with Mr Woodham.

He suffered a head injury and fractured his spine which has left him paralysed from the chest down.

The coach company's insurers deny liability for the accident, the newspaper reports the legal writ for the case as stating.

Back in July, a paralysed teenager from Rainworth in Mansfield was successful in her multimillion pound compensation claim against her GP and the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
