GBP 3k awarded to woman with stone in sandwich

05/08/2010

A woman has been awarded an injury claim of GBP 3,000 after finding a stone in her lunch.

Karen Addy, 48, discovered the small pebble when she bit into her carrot, hummus, rocket and alfalfa sandwich bought from the Boots in Leeds train station.

She damaged her tooth when she bit the stone and an abscess then formed, which she had to take painkillers and antibiotics for.

Ms Addy ended up needing to have the tooth removed and underwent four dental procedures over a period of five months.

"It has been a really stressful ordeal and it's dragged on for such a long time but I am glad that all of the treatment is finally done," she told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Ms Addy sought the services of an injuries solicitor, who helped her to win the GBP 3,000 in compensation.

Last month, it was reported that injuries solicitors had helped a former RAF airman to win GBP 500,000 in car accident compensation.
