Funfair ride injured girl, 12

02/11/2009

The operators of a Bridlington funfair may find themselves on the receiving end of an injury compensation claim after a 12-year-old girl was hurt falling through a gap on one of its rides.

Shannon Hilton fell around 7ft on to the concrete floor beneath the Shake It ride last Friday (October 30th), breaking his wrist and sustaining concussion and cuts to her head, the Bridlington Free Press reports.

Rachel Wilson, who took Shannon to the fair, said that the gap between the steps and the ride was wide enough for an adult to fall through and she spent two hours trying to get it shut down after Shannon was taken to hospital.

"People say I should take this further, I don't know, I am not the sort who goes after compensation, but it should not have been allowed to operate like that," Shannon's mother Bernadette told the paper.

A father whose two sons were hurt when Blackpool's Big Dipper ride crashed in September is reported to be seeking injury compensation for the incident.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19438786-ADNFCR
