Former airman awarded GBP 500k in car accident compensation

04/08/2010

A former RAF airman has been awarded GBP 500,000 in car accident compensation after his career was cut short by an incident on the roads.

Juan Feliciano-Diaz was stationed at Lakenheath when the accident occurred back in 2006.

He was driving his jeep towards Tuddenham when he was involved in a crash with a Volkswagen Caravelle.

Mr Feliciano-Diaz suffered injuries to his elbow, abdomen, pelvis and right leg during the accident, which eventually forced him to give up work and return to his home country of Puerto Rico.

The majority of Mr Feliciano-Diaz's claim was for his loss of earnings and pension and military benefits.

Some of the payout, however, will be used to cover the extensive medical treatment he has had to undergo.

Last month, the Shetland Times reported that a woman who was seriously injured in an accident on the roads had made a compensation claim of GBP 200,000 against Northern Constabulary.
