Cyclist seeks car accident compensation
02/11/2011A woman from Lancashire may receive car accident compensation after being thrown from her bike into the back of a vehicle.
Kath Percival, a mum-of-two from Preston, is suing Halfords as their failure to spot a problem with the bike during two services was behind the accident, the Lancashire Evening Post reported.
The 49-year-old was left with injuries to her leg and pain for months following the accident which she claims occurred when a jammed gear dropped down a cog suddenly, sending her off balance and into the back of a car.
Her bike had been serviced by the Halfords on Mariners Way in Preston and then at the York Foss Islands Road branch during the days prior to the accident, which Ms Percival told the source has left her "nervous" to be on the road.
A spokesman for the Halfords stores in Preston and York said: "Our sincere apologises to Mrs Percival. On this occasion we let her down."
Last week six people were injured when two cars collided in South Yorkshire, which may result in car accident compensation claims from those involved.
