Car accident compensation: Couple treated for whiplash after car accident

28/09/2011

An elderly couple have been treated at hospital for whiplash and other injuries after being involved in a car accident which saw the roof of their car sliced off.

The incident occurred on the A66 near Keswick, Cumbria, when a 69-year-old man and his wife in a Vauxhall insignia collided with a Ford Transit van.

In the smash, the roof of the couple's car was almost torn off, though they both survived the accident relatively unscathed, with the woman only experiencing minor injuries and her husband being treated for whiplash.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service boss Adrian Holmes said it was a miracle that the couple and the van driver – who was also treated for minor injuries – all survived.

"When the two vehicles collided, the side-board of the pick-up was impaled into the driver's side of the car. It was a massive intrusion but miraculously it missed the driver," he added.

It comes after two doormen recently ran to the rescue of a man trapped in a car after a crash occurred on West Wycombe Road in Buckinghamshire.

His MG car collided with another vehicle and flipped onto its roof, trapping the MG driver inside and giving him a suspected whiplash injury, the Bucks Free Press reported.
