13/09/2011

A woman has been taken to hospital with a whiplash injury after a car accident involving two vehicles in Lancashire.

The 47-year-old motorist, a resident of Darwen, Blackburn, had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance after the smash, which occurred just before noon yesterday (September 12th), the Blackburn Citizen reported.

Her Vauxhall Vectra taxi travelling along Railway Road in Blackburn town centre, close to a Morrisons supermarket and the Lancashire Telegraph building, when it collided with a black Renault Scenic.

Police were immediately called to the scene following the incident to deal with the mounting traffic, while the woman was treated for her whiplash injury until paramedics could arrive to take her to hospital.

Two weeks ago, two people were treated for whiplash injuries following a head-on vehicle collision involving a black Nissan Micra and a blue Mercedes in Brentwood, Essex, though none of the casualties suffered life-threatening injuries, the Brentwood Weekly News reported.
