Biker begins compensation claim against Suzuki

A championship motorcycle racer is launching a GBP 300,000 injury compensation claim against the manufacturer which made his bike.

Lancashire man Alan Jackson, 29, was practising for the Isle of Man Grand Prix when his bike allegedly split into two pieces, leaving him with severe leg injuries, the Lancashire Evening Post reports.

He required several operations at the Royal Liverpool Hospital and plastic surgery but has still be left with ill health, including one leg which is shorter than the other.

Additionally, he has had to retire from his job as an electrician for the Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust.

Mr Jackson is now pursuing an injury compensation claim against Suzuki, which he claims provided him with a defective and dangerous motorbike frame.

The case follows reports in the London Evening Standard that the heir to a sportswear business empire has claimed GBP 1 million in damages after his motorcycle crashed into a van in the Blackfriars underpass.
