£200 compensation bill for Norwich crash

01/05/2009

A Latvian motorist has been ordered to pay £200 in car accident compensation after crashing into the front of an oncoming car.

Edgars Seleckis, a factory worker from Norwich, reversed the wrong way up a one-way city street, causing £600 worth of damage to his victim's vehicle, the Norwich Evening News reports.

He also admitted to driving without insurance, although he claimed in court that he did not realise his insurance had expired.

In addition to the damage to her car, Mr Seleckis' victim also suffered whiplash injuries and was said to be very upset by the incident.

Mr Seleckis was given a £200 compensation bill as well as being fined £210 for careless driving, a £15 victim surcharge and ordered to pay £30 in costs.

It comes soon after reports in the Herald Express that a Totnes man is facing a £300,000 car accident compensation claim after leaving a teenage motorcyclist wheelchair-bound from a crash.ADNFCR-2070-ID-19150608-ADNFCR
